Your next visit is with a new organiser – fantastic! This is a golden opportunity for you to demonstrate the exceptional service you provide and to establish a connection that may encourage them to return to you repeatedly.

To ensure that both you and the organiser have the best possible experience during their first sit, we've put together a few tips and tricks:

Effective Communication:

  • Engage in proactive communication with the organiser to understand their specific needs and requirements. Asking questions showcases your organisation and dedication to making the visit a success.

  • Inquire about any tasks they expect you to complete, especially for childcare visits (e.g., meal preparation, homework assistance, favourite activities).

  • Find out if the organiser has particular expectations from you or any house rules they'd like you to follow while they're away.

By communicating openly and addressing the organiser's needs, you're setting the stage for a smooth and enjoyable visit.

Be understanding

Organisers are sometimes nervous if it’s their first time with a companion they don’t know, so if they have more questions than usual or need some extra reassurances make sure you help set them at ease. Answering their questions and highlighting your experience will help them feel more comfortable, and will show them that you are a prepared and responsible person.

Some first-time organisers will book their first visit whilst they are also present, such as eldercare and childcare, so that they can get to know you a bit better before booking you when they’re away. If that’s the case, don’t fret! Just use the time to get to know them and ask the organiser any questions that you might have.

Show up at your best

First impressions are always important, but even more so if the organiser hasn’t used companiions before. It’s crucial that you present yourself well and get to the visit early, so that they can take a few minutes to warm up to you in person before they head out or you start the visit. We always recommend that you check your route in advance, so that you avoid last-minute delays as much as possible.

Make sure you don’t cancel – even though there are always emergencies, we’d urge you to do your very best not to cancel on a first-time organiser. Ensuring that organisers have a great experience enables you to get more work and hopefully repeat bookings! Last-minute cancellations will also unfortunately result in the system suspending your companiions profile.

Good luck from the companiions team! We’re sure you’ll have a great visit – feel free to reach out to support@companiions.com if you have any questions.
